Risk Assessment

Through consultation and a detailed risk plan we can help identify hazards and consequently estimate, evaluate and reduce the risk's surrounding your machinery using tried and internationally recognised methods. 

We offer qualified CMSE Certified Machinery Safety Experts to help you risk assess any part(s) of the full machine life cycle as per ISO100 / AS4024

Risk Reduction

Our engineers are able to offer plans to reduce risk in line with your companies expectation that will meet the legislative requirements. 

We take a realistic approach to implementing a solution that is achievable though:
  • Elimination or substitution of the human interactions, automation is our speciality
  • Engineering controls, through mechanical hard stops, barriers, interlocks, presence sensing or two handed controls
  • Awareness means of communicating risks through lights, beacons and strobes, correct signage and painted marking of zones on floors
  • Training and procedural updates to ensure safe operation is taught, training records are kept and refreshers are run at appropriate intervals
  • Personal protective equipment is utilised

Design, Evaluate, Verify

We will take a holistic approach to machine safety and as such recommend solutions to fit the problem. 

Let us help you evaluate the hazard and assign an associated safety requirement, then prove our engineered safety function meets the required performance level, safety category or safety integrity level required to effectively mitigate the identified risk.


Doing this in the design phase prior to installation saves costly re-engineering efforts down the track
  • We will use your site standard of safety categories (CAT), performance level (PL) or safety integrity levels (SIL) to specify and evaluate the design meets/exceeds the design requirements prior to implementation
  • We will offer a true risk reduction scheme through intrinsic design that allows tried and tested safety functions to minimise the identified risk
  • We will validate via a process that confirms the specification has been met and the conformity of the design of each safety function is within the overall safety requirements specification of the machinery

Documentation

Documentation is key to proving the process has been carried out properly.  We typically provide a combination of the following:
  • Specification documents
  • Operating and environmental conditions
  • Risk Assessment
  • Safety function design and evaluations
  • System validation documents including test plan and records
  • Follow up risk assessment
